PERSONALITY:
Living without hurting anyone and without getting hurt... Is that really so difficult to do?
Scolded by a strict father, spoiled by a kind-hearted mother and bullied by classmates, Ruca grows into a lonely, withdrawn person, who firmly believes that there is not a single soul in the world that cares about him. Perhaps subconsciously knowing that he was betrayed and killed by his lover in the past life (he remembers that much later in the game) he stays away from people, afraid that they would hurt him or that he would say something wrong and make them angry or hurt.
Ruca is very kind and he doesn't blame anyone but himself for the way he is. He doesn't even get angry at his bullies. Instead he wonders to himself why he can't be different. Ruca wants to change and be a better person, he wants to have friends, but he finds it difficult to connect to anyone. It's only when he meets Iria and other Avatars when he starts seeing that he was closing himself on other people. He's trying to be more out-going, but he still tends to quickly apologize, especially when the other person looks angry, he hesitates when talking to strangers, he's very considerate of other people, he lets Iria and Spada drag him into things he doesn't actually want to do.
Despite that Ruca isn't actually weak-willed. He's meek and for himself he never does much, but for other people he's able to do everything. When Chitose tells him that Iria is a traitor, Ruca doesn't listen. Instead he stubbornly protects Iria and continues to believe in her even after the revelation that Iria's past life - Inanna killed Asura. He is also shown to keep on fighting despite sickness or injuries if he knows that he needs to do that in order to help someone.
Due to his loneliness prior to the game events, Ruca feels for people who have similar experiences. Hearing of Hermana and Chien's loneliness makes him also realize that he didn't had it that bad at all. It also reaffirms him that he needs to change himself and become more open towards people.
Even if it takes him long to make friends with someone, Ruca loves his friends. He seems to be seeing the good traits in them first and foremost. He views Ricardo as reliable, he tells Hermana how brave she is, he appreciates Ange for her knowledge and support, he is grateful for Spada being there for him when he needs it and he admires Iria for her strong will. If there's a good trait in a person, Ruca will pick on it and compliment them for it. He looks up to people easily, especially if they're kind and reliable.
And reliable is exactly the kind of person he wants to be, but Ruca has a really poor view on himself. He tries to change that but there are still times when he'll talk himself down.
Just as much as he loves spoiling people around him, Ruca is harsh on himself. He works very hard but often looks for perfection and is not satisfied when he's something less than that. He doesn't want to be a bother to anyone. He wants to make his parents proud. In the end Ruca really lives for other people, not for himself.
His greatest wish is to be a doctor in the future, but his parents have a different future in mind for him. Ruca still studies medicine whenever he can. It's not a problem for him. He's curious and enjoys studying and learning new things to the point that on his travels he even says that he misses school and tests. He also enjoys sharing his knowledge with others and, for example, teaches Hermana and Coda how to read and write.
He's not all about science though. He enjoys various books, such as novels about distant lands. But he can also be found daydreaming, especially at the beginning of the game. In fact Ruca thinks way more than he speaks. And he often overthinks something to the point he doesn't say what he wanted to say. This happens, for example, when he thinks of calling Iria by a nickname and eventually decides in his head that it would be rude.
Ruca is also a quiet, peaceful soul, despite his previous life being a war god. Ruca himself doesn't like to fight and resolves to using force when there's no other way. He would much more prefer to talk and convince the other side that fighting is unnecessary. He is well aware that in a world such as Naraka this may not always work, but his kindness and the idea that everyone deserves to be given another chance makes him try to talk to them anyway.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
▶ Avatar
Ruca is reincarnation of demon god Asura, which means he has human body but his soul is that of a divine being. He does not remember everything from his past life and he recalls most of those memories in his dreams.
▶ Fire magic
Due to being a reincarnation, Ruca is able to use various artes, including power fire magic. His abilities range from casting low level spells such as "Fire Ball" to using powerful ones like "Explosion".

▶ Enhanced strength
Due to being an Avatar, Ruca's strength is enhanced and he can easily fight using a giant broadsword despite the fact that he had never held a sword in his hands or got into fights before he awakened his powers as an Avatar.
He is also capable of rising his or other people's strength using spells such as "Sharpness".
▶ Enhanced healing
Due to being an Avatar, Ruca's wounds heal faster than other people's. When he was stabbed by Hasta, he recovered from the deadly wound in three days.
▶ Medical knowledge
Since Ruca wishes to be a doctor in the future, he studies the subject whenever he can. Thanks to this, he posses some medical knowledge, allowing him to, for example, help Iria when she burns her hand.
▶ Good memory
Ruca is shown to have very good memory as he keeps track of all the battles the party has ever foughtyes, he's counting them or quoting someone when they say something different that what they said before.
