You are special. [ he fires back quickly, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world and, by extension, anyone would be utterly ridiculous to even question it.

Otonashi can’t help himself, giving in to the urge to ruffle Ruca’s hair and rest his chin on the other teen’s shoulder, his breath coming in warm waves against Ruca’s skin as he laughs. ]

Too late, I already did. And, you know what else?

[He laughs again, happy. It feels good to have Otonashi close and to not see him worry about anything.

...And Ruca would lie to himself if he said he wasn't happy about being "special".

He presses close to the other boy, resting his head close to the other's neck as he asks the question:]

Hm? What else?

[ loosely draping his arm around Ruca, Otonashi lets the thought hang, awkwardly and deliberately incomplete, before he gently moves one of his legs aside to accommodate pulling Ruca closer.

but he can move it, he has the coordination to nudge it aside without struggling. ]

It works. I feel a little better. I’m not much of a romance reader, but it kinda seems like something out of that genre, doesn’t it? Magic healing kisses?

[Being even closer is something he wants very much. He smiles with a soft blush dusting his face.]

In books love can solve all the problems.

[He laughs shyly.]

So I'm glad it's working.

[He presses a quick and soft kiss to Otonashi's cheek, before settling his face close to the other's neck again. His warm breath can be felt against the skin.]

[ he could speak to his relative naïveté regarding the romance genre, knowing it more in passing than from personal experience. Otonashi has vague memories of passing up romance novels and skipping over romance media if it happened to come up on television, finding no happiness in indulging in it.

but he hadn’t found happiness in much at all in the context of those uncovered memories; rather than brush off Ruca’s innocent love for something or sour it with the negativity his memory offers him, Otonashi pulls Ruca in, combing his fingers through the other teen’s hair. ]

Ahh, I wouldn’t really know all that well, so it sounds like you’ll have to be the expert on romance. I was kinda guessing. Healing kisses, power of love...

[ tucking some of that silver hair behind Ruca’s ear, he pressing a gentle kiss to his cheek, then his jaw, in turn. ]

So, you’re the guide on this one, okay? You’re doing great so far.

[At first he's stunned at Otonashi's words, before a soft laugh makes it past his lips and a new blush blooms on his face.]

M-me? An expert?

[He tries to bury his head as much as possible against the other boy.]

Yuzuru, I... I really am not.

[In the past life romance was what killed in eventually. In this life, he had very little experience with romance at all.

He's silent for a moment.]

I-I only know stuff from books, really. That's... not exactly the same as the real thing? I think. So... let's just... learn together?
